The CFMS General Meetings are a great way to meet colleagues from across Canada and learn how other medical schools operate with their colleges, schools, and communities.
Take part in the discussions that form the voice of Canadian medical students and the positions they take to both their schools and their governments!
What is AGM/SGM and who gets to go?
The CFMS Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Spring General Meeting (SGM) are opportunities for medical students from across Canada to get together and discuss important issues pertaining to medical education, advocacy, global health, wellness, and more.
The AGM/SGM is open to all medical students. The VP External Sr, Global Health Liaison Sr, and the SMSS President receive funding to attend the AGM. The VPs External Jr/Sr, VPs Academic Jr/Sr, and incoming and outgoing SMSS President receive funding to attend the SGM. All other students are encouraged to attend and can apply for funding through the CFMS directly (MD Financial Travel Awards) as well as through the SMSS (Dean’s CFMS Travel Awards).
What are position papers?
Position papers are evidence-based resources that identify the Canadian medical student perspective for a variety of health systems issues. Any CFMS member can write a position paper – contact your CFMS Representative or click here for more information.
