The Health Sciences Students’ Association (HSSA) invites you to our annual Building Bridges Interdisciplinary Forum. This year’s panel discussion will be on the legalization of cannabis. The event is to provide an interdisciplinary perspective on cannabis and how the new legalization laws impact professionals in the field from a clinical, research, educational, and institutional perspective.

This year’s panel will feature:
Dr. Robert Laprairie:
Dr. Laprairie is an assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition and a member of the Drug Discovery and Development Research Group and the Cannabinoid Research Initiative of Saskatchewan (CRIS). His research focuses on the endocannabinoid system.
Dr. Trisha Dowling:
Dr. Dowling is a professor in the Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences in the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Her research focuses on the pharmacokinetics of veterinary drugs.
Dr. Alana Holt:
Dr. Holt is a psychiatrist and faculty member in the College of Medicine. She works with the Early Psychosis Intervention Program and at the University of Saskatchewan’s Student Wellness Centre.
Ms. Maryellen Gibson:
Ms. Gibson is a recent graduate of the Master of Public Health program. She works as a Special Projects Coordinator at Student Wellness and has worked extensively with the Saskatchewan Government to create resources for students around safe cannabis use.
Dr. Michael Szafron:
Dr. Szafron is an associate professor in the School of Public Health. His research focuses on statistical models and has extensive experience with public policy surrounding cannabis.
