Any member attending a conference, presenting at a conference, or pursuing an academic or professional activity beyond those delivered as part of the College’s curriculum is eligible to apply for and receive funding up to but not in excess of the expenses they incurred in the travel to and from the event and any activities/boarding costs incurred at the event. The awards recipients are selected from a pool of de-identified applications by the SMSS Funding and Oversight Committee which is chaired by the Student Groups Coordinator (SGC). The Committee meets twice a school year for each application cycle. The Fall cycle is for events taking place between October 1st to May 31st. The Spring cycle is for events between April 1st to November 31st. NOTE: Events taking place in October November, April, and May can be applied for during either cycle.
The deadline for the upcoming funding cycle for the 19/20 academic year is October 1st by 11:59 PM. Please email your applications to the SGC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interested parties should refer to the SMSS Policies Package (Funding and Oversight Committee policy and Travel Awards protocols). Please note that failing to COMPLETELY FILL OUT the application form WILL result in the application being removed from contention.
